New Bill Thoms Cross
Okay, so I just can't contain myself. Famed Bulbophyllum hybridizer Bill Thoms asked me over the weekend if he could name his new cross (Bulb. Wilbur Chang X Bulb. sumatranum) after me. Of course I said yes that I would be honored. He sent me photos of the first to bloom and I am absolutely thrilled. The flower is stunning and in Bill's words " It has become the flattest of any cross I have made so far. It will make it VERY hard to let you have any plants, but I will. The plant registration form is in the mail on it's way to the RHS. So with no further ado I give you Bulbophyllum Glen Gary.

Thanks but you will have to take a number, I haven't gotten mine yet. I think Bill is going to bloom a bunch out so that he can try for an AQ from AOS. If the rest of the grex is as nice as the first to bloom, I see lots of award potential from the cross. I'll keep you informed if and when they become available.

Appreciate it. It would be a special one to me as it would have something to do with one of my forum chums.

Silken, I think it is the flower that should be honored to be named after me!
