It looks like there is definitely hope! The mix its in looks pretty broken down but the roots look really good. I'd say it would benefit from repotting soon. You could probably get away with trimming anything going brown and mushy and dust the cuts with some cinnamon. If you cut I'd leave a generous buffer between the cut and any potentially viable tissue.
