The way the roots have grown will make it tricky, but I recommend potting it up with the plant sitting on top of the medium, held steadily in place by some stakes or other means of preventing motion.
Before you do so, soak the thing in a solution of 4 ml of KelpMax per liter. It is a far superior root growth stimulant that is available from ccorchids.ca. Water the plant in with that solution, then use it - and nothing else - the next two waterings.
Invert a clear plastic bag over the plant and pot to keep the RH high around it, keep it really warm and shady, and the plant will grow its roots down into the medium. I'm afraid that planting it deep enough to cover the existing roots would likely lead to basal rot.
