Zygopetalum with too many roots? Female
Default Zygopetalum with too many roots?

I have a zygo that was planted in soil when I bought her (or some other seriously broken down media). She has finished blooming and I decided it was time to repot her. She was a solid mass of thick healthy roots. She clearly loved whatever she was planted in. I had to use the hose to clean out her media and repotted her in sphagnum moss and small Orchiata. I was able to pot her pretty well, but I could not get media into that tight root ball that I had so diligently cleaned out. I pounded the pot on the table a few times to get the media to settle in as best as I could.

The question is, if there is no bark/moss in the center will she be alright? I'm thinking she is an epiphyte so she should be fine...but I also read she is more terrestrial so I'm just confused. The small Orchiata was pretty dusty and I didn't rinse it thinking hey its kinda like dirt. She has such pretty blooms and she is pretty large so I would hate to lose her. I was too tired to remember to taking pictures while I was potting her, but trust me when I tell you there was some serious root porn going on.
