That sounds like an awful lot of steps. Speaking for myself, I'll just turn my head to view pics in their side.

I'd done that in the past and it worked. Then it didn't. After reading this I experimented. I open in photo gallery, rotate once, rotate back, then save, and it works. I'd forgotten that for some reason I needed to rotate more than once before saving. Voila! Thank you!!

I loaded a free photo editing program onto my I-pad called Aviary. It has a lot of cool editing features and allows me to insert text into the photo (I like to show the plant name in the photo). I've never had a problem with a sideways photo after rotating it with this program.

I never needed to install anything to post them correctly.

Is there something one can do to correct it?

Thanks in advance

I use tinypic. Here are the steps:

1. Goto TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
2. Upload the pic you want. Copy and paste the image code generated. Remember to include the two [IMG] codes.

Hope it helps.

I noticed this happening recently too. I don't remember it happening in the past. If you have a Mac, open the image in the default Mac image viewer (called Preview) and rotate it using the controls at the top. Even though it will appear as you want it when you open it in Preview, you have to rotate it all the way into that position or else the image viewer on the Orchid Board will get confused. I have a feeling there must have been some kind of recent upgrade to that feature here.

The image rotation problem has been here at Orchid Board for at least two years. I'm guessing the problem is more likely that newer phone software doesn't preserve orientation properly.

I doubt that there have been any updates to OB that caused this, simply because the last updates were quite a long time ago. It doesn't give problems with photo that I upload directly from my desktop, only ones coming directly from my phone. Could be that the photo uploader of OB is old enough to not be able to 'read' information coming from phones, and defaults everything to landscape format.

Yeah, too bad the owner won't hit "update" on the forum. Seems it would solve a lot of problems with not too much work. They are still getting paid though.
