Default Bellina, or not ?

Hello all...

Bought this plant last summer and was told it was a Phal. Bellina. Naturally, there was no tag. All Bellina's I've seen on the internet look NOTHING like this...

It does continually produce flowers one after the other... and has the big, glossy leaves.... so, maybe it is?

If it is - anyone know what Bellina specifically?

It's definitely not a bellina.
This site is invaluable if you want data on orchid species.

Well then, I guess I'll add that one to the scam pile...
Thanks for your response and the link.

It's not bellina it's a hybrid of some sort, but to say it's a scam is kind of unfortunate. It's a very nice flower, and may possibly have bellina in its heritage.

The flowers are tiny but adorable, and fragrant. I think it might be related somehow to a bellina.

The scam is in telling someone it's a bellina, when it's not. Lesson learned: educate yourself before purchasing.

p.s. that's an exceptionally handsome dog you have there.

That it's fragrant, how the stem grows, and the description of the plant all fit into it having bellina parentage. And I agree that a seller who would sell the plant as being the species bellina is either ignorant or less than ethical.

The dog is my boy Sully, one of my three. He owns me. He's a mix of Great Dane and Sharpei. Thanks for your comment!

2 gorgeous breeds, so it's no wonder he's stunning. He's like a Calvin Klein model - but better looking. Mr Sully has a new biggest fan.

Was it in bloom when you purchased it? If it was, you got it because it was pretty.

If not, it could be an honest mistake. Big name reputable sellers have mis-IDed plants without tags (even with tags!).

It was not in bloom when purchased. When it did bloom, I was a shocked at the colour/shape...hence my question about whether it was some sort of bellina.

I do believe honest mistakes happen, just not 6 times in a row with the same seller... lol I'm an orchid newbie and that seller knew it. She does have a lot of different types and so-so pricing... What's that saying? "If something seems too good to be true, it usually is..."

Unfortunately, this country is not overflowing with the likes of Orchids by Hausermann, Andy's Orchid's, Moates Orchids etc. Even Ebay is a serious let down. I've got to stop watching YouTube videos, it just makes me sad to see what is NOT available here.

Anyways, thanks for your reply. Enjoy your weekend.
