Are you around it in the morning, say, around 10am?

Yes I am. Do I have to be up close ?

She has another spike forming which I am happy about and I did place her in a new ceramic pot with clay pellets surrounding the inner moss , I didn't want to disturb her.

So that's one spike blooming and three more growing . Her color as well is not as red.... but still is a beautiful orchid.

I also put her in my southern window recieved exposure in the am ans again in the evening.

It seems to be more strongly perfumed when the sun is streaming through the window, rather rare here in Ohio. Usually, I put my nose to it to smell the fragrance. I do hope that it is fragrant. It would be awful if it isn't.

The color is dependent on temperature. The cooler temperatures bring out the red in this one.

You may have a dud plant. Mine is fragrant as Leafmite says in the early part of the day, up until about 3pm, but I can smell it as soon as I enter the room it is that strong, mine is my most fragrant orchid. I did have the opportunity to buy it when it was in bloom, so I did go around smelling them all to pick the strongest scent.

I must concur. I would write the vendor and say that you were expecting a fragrant orchid and that it isn't fragrant. Tell the vendor how long it has been in bloom and ask for any suggestions on why it isn't. Unfortunately, even in clones, you do not always get what you expect.

Genes in a living thing can be turned on and off during the development or lifetime of the organism which explains why, even in a perfect copy, there can be variation.

I do understand , it's just $55 for the orchid and $25 for shipping , which is what is making me so upset, not if I only spent $30. I will email them and see what they say.

That's a lot of money, so if you're not happy I would definitely complain. Over here, this orchid is commonly sold in grocery stores and Ikea, I'm not sure if that is the case in your area, but if they are then it's worthwhile going in the morning and giving them the sniff test.

Thanks it was a birthday gift as well from my husband. I'm super disappointed, I tried all ikeas in NJ and one from Philadelphia, I live in Delaware and it's not sold here. It's really upsetting, I doubt they will do anything about it , was purchased from orchid web.
