I arranged a number of smaller cacti around a Barbie doll with a tiny beach towel and beach umbrella, with white play sand. Yes, Barbie had little sunglasses.

Sometimes you can find interesting things at yard sales or thrift stores.

You can also paint your clay pots with craft paint and stencils, or "whitewash" them. I've done some pretty pots that way and you can now buy craft paint in metallic, too. For instance verdigris with copper accents. And, no, it never injured my plants.

I can't find a link to a great cartoon - a checker, in a store with a huge banner saying EVERTYTHING'S 99 CENTS, on the intercom saying "Price check register 4."
