Bil, in practice, I often am in a rush in the morning, so I also use a very dilute fertilizer solution. For the convenience. I can't imagine a weak solution harming roots.

Dogs a pain in the arse? Nah - I'm pretty amused by their antics! Watching a dog pick up a food can and carry it to the next room is absolutely hilarious. I'll admit that the garbage messes are less than pleasant, but it makes them happy and so I don't get upset. Also, and this is the kicker for me to never be upset with a dog, I once came home to find a total stranger - wearing gloves - yelling "HELP" from a closet. On the other side of the closet door was my avatar, who is 90 pounds of huge muscles, staring at the door and growling. Had Sully not been in the house, I believe a lot of my property would have disappeared! Sully didn't bite him, but had he tried to leave, or threatened the dog, I would have found nothing but remains when I got home. (And yes, I DID make the guy stay in the closet until police arrived, which he did NOT like.) Another dog, now deceased, saved my house from burning down by alerting me very quickly to an electrical fire. I'll put up with their messes to know that I have the finest home security system in the world!
