Odontocidium Blooming Question
Default Odontocidium Blooming Question

Hello everyone. New OB member here.

I had a question in regards to the Odontocidium catatante Kiluea Karma that i purchased in November last year. I purchased it after it flowered and have been patiently waiting for it to bloom again. By the time spring rolled around it had a whopping 7 new Pbulbs coming in. I was hoping to see some spikes by now, however, it has put out more Pbulbs in the place where you would normally see a new spike. Is this typical during the summer when temps are still too high? Im hoping to see some spikes by the end of summer. Is my thinking correct here or should i have seen blooms by now?

Addtional info:

Location: (midwest) east screen porch - mostly receiving direct morning sun
Medium: better gro special orchid mix (bark, perlite, charcoal) topped with a bit of sphagnum moss.
Ferts: better gro orchid plus (20-14-13) couple times per month

Welcome!

I'm not familiar with this particular one. Many of these start pushing spikes when the new growth is partially developed, so there is still hope for you.
