Would the symptoms of the growths on the other plants (paling and browning of the tips) also be symptoms of overwatering?

You know, I looked at those leaves and a bell rang. I remember reading in Wm Cullina's book that too much salts (and that's what fertilisers are) will cause leaves to die back like that.
I use about 1.5g of fertiliser in 6.6 litres of RO water for mu Den Phals, and they are doing fine on it. How much are you using?

Too much super thrive or over fertilizing imo. Are you getting active root growth? If not you might want to up the humidity. I had a similar situation last year, when day/night temperature varied too much.
Also consider amputating the necrotic / dying part. This can get infected and spread to rest of the plant.

I've been using an organic fertiliser made with trichoderms and molasses - just a little splash in the bucket at every watering. I also use SuperThrive, one drop per litre of water - this I do weekly, giving them a rest on the 4th week. I was using a weak Peters solution around once a month before, but I stopped with this when I started with the SuperThrive (around a month ago).

Necrotic parts now seen to. Not noticed much in the way of new root growth recently, so gonna put a few plates of water around the growing area, see if that helps to raise humidity.
