I have a little question. I got this Coryanthes macrantha as a present about 5 month ago, it is first one for me and that’s why I went to orchidspecies.com to learn about it. I got two new grow and got happy (happy plant happy me) but one is growing up and another down… Is net pot too small and that’s why it is grooving down(pushing against pot)? Should I repot it in bigger one while it is growing new roots? Thanks.
Congrats and so jealous. I got one of these in early December. I had a few problems early on and lost a few leaves. But That seems to have stabilized and I have a new growth and some signs that the roots are growing.
What kind of conditions are you growing yours in? I'm growing mine in my home. Have a large west facing window. My house is about 60 to 65 at night and 70 to 75 during the day with humidity in the 60% to 70% range. I keep a fan going during the day.
Mine came in a wooden slat basket with sphagnum. I think early on it was too cold and wet.
Very cool plant
I have no clue about those plants- but I was wondering about that new growth: looking at the size of the old ones, will the new growth have enough room to grow? I would have tried to cut the pot above the new growth, making sure it had enough space to develop normally
Dont know when these are best to repot, wait till after blooming maybe.

Definitely wait until after it has flowered. Be prepared to carefully cut the mesh basket away, to avoid damaging roots and new growth.
If there is room to get some small scissors in there without damaging the new growth I would be tempted to snip the basket right around the new growth. At least one of the little black strips, just to release some of the pressure as the pseudobulb develops. Then repot after the bloom.

Please post more photos as the bloom develops.
I'm growing it in my apartment. It is in my hot room in Winter temps 65-68F night to 75-85F day in Summer it will go up to 95-100, humidity 60-70%. It is growing between two SunSystems with 65.000 lumens each but in shade to part-shade no direct light or it will burn. It is in moss and need to be moist, do not let it dryout. and i do have two fans blowing in same directions from opposite sides, one little to the left other to the right, creating little whirlpool in center. Good luck with yours.
