What I see in that photo is a normal-looking root tip. Other than that (?) - sorry, it's a bit out of focus.
What I would suggest regarding watering is possibly watering a little more often, more thoroughly when you do, but still allowing it to dry between each time you water.
Try watering twice a week. Each time you water, maybe soak the roots/bark (not leaves) for 15 minutes or so, then drain. Water again only when the medium is nearly dry; roots typically will be more silvery and less green when they need water. In terms of frequency, when it's needed ("nearly dry") is more important than the span of time between watering (i.e., "twice a week" is just a suggestion).
