We had a high of 96 degrees today....so it looks like my orchids will stay outside for a while yet.

Must be nice to live somewhere warm. :|

It is going to drop to 30'F (-1'C) this weekend and, with the breeze, it will feel colder. I'll probably bring in the Pleione bulbs this weekend and most everything else.

I did manage to find very good homes for all the orchids that didn't fit in a window or under the lights...and the unscented Brassavola nodosa. It was especially painful to give away the mossiae and purpurata. To console myself, I ordered another C. aclandiae (a coerulea form, this time, promised to be strongly fragrant).

I am really curious what plants of yours, if you remember where you unable to get rid of pests on. Was it one alliance or specific plants? I have found cattleyas attract the most and of those certain cattleyas I canot get rid of the pest. I am at that point to where it's not worth it, I can buy another.

Everything is inside except Den. thyrsiflorum / kingianum, the Holcoglossums and the Ornithidium sophronitis

We had a light frost last night up here in North Central Ohio... I'd brought in most of the orchids except for my Den. nobile, Den. kingianum, and Neofinetia falcata earlier in the week when lows started hitting the 40's. Brought in the last of the orchids except the Neos last night--and good that I did since there was frost on the car windshields this morning.

Neos are fine with temps into the upper 20's, so figured they'd be able to stay out until tonight.....I've seen pix of them with light snow, but don't want to push my luck.

The forecast here shows 40 F for tomorrow night, so tonight at 51 is probably the last night they spend out.

The sad thing is of course temperatures rebound after the next day....but I hate back and forth.

I pushed my luck with the Catts and even Phals and kept them out until night temps dropped into the 40s as long as the daytime temps got into the 60's, but I made sure to keep the plants and the dry side during the last week or so they were out and misted the mounts only in the morning so things would have a chance to dry out before the temps dropped.

So far no signs of rot anywhere, and pests were minimal, though I did have a grey tree frog hitchhike in one one of the oncs. Cute little guy, and he'll probably spend the winter on the plants....There should be enough water since I mist daily and have some other houseplants with damp soil.

I've been having a 40-50 deg swing from day to night temps. Mine don't seem to mind the cool nights when the days are warm.
Cool nights and days are when I have to make changes.

We had a light frost one day last week and again last night. The nobile and cymbidium stayed out, but I brought them in tonight. We are supposed to get 20s over the weekend. Then it's supposed to warm up a bit. I only have a few that I put in and out, so I will do that until nights stay cold.
