Thank you, I will keep all the information in mind.
I have one little orchid that is really bad, I cut all the dead roots off of it, replanted it, but today I looked at it and did not see any good roots, like all of them looked dry. It still has 4 green but wilted. I just wonder if I can save it.

I have sent a few phals to orchid heaven...sorry to say. All of them because I didn't change out their potting soil when I brought them home. So far, in my limited experience, I am now examining the media as soon as possible. Unfortunately, all my treasures have needed new potting media.

How long would you recommend pre-soaking a small sized bark before use?

Thank you.

I am trying to save two of my Phal orchids. They had rotten roots so I removed them from decorative container for better air ventilation just left in transparent plastic pot. I cleaned and disinfected all and repot them in new bark based media.
That was maybe a week ago. anybody knows what I should watch for next and how long it will be for new roots to grow if I dont mess it up ?

Default My Phals Needed the Same...

All had old, wet, deteriorated moss that had to be almost surgically removed it was so high into the crowns. I also trimmed off the dead roots, left my aerial roots, and soaked the roots in Physan-20.

The Physan-20 was rinsed off and I re-potted in clear plastic pots with air slots.

My potting media is the Phal. Monterey Gold Imperial Orchid Mix, from re-Potme. It comes moist, and used it right out of the bag. My poor little Phals seem to be okay...no further root damage or rot. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's been a couple of weeks, and I will leave the re-potted team in sick bay until I see new roots...then transfer them (maybe) to a mix with more bark.

I almost never soak bark before I use it. Just my personal preference.
