Well, I saw a pic of someone with SM round the top of their vanda vase, and it looked very good. It takes awhile to grow enough for a nice clump, but it's gradually getting there.

I have my vanda in a clay pot. It is very small right now but this can be a way to manage all the roots and watering as seen on Brad's Greenhouse on YouTube.
