Hello everybody!
I am really confused now. On my cymbidium orchid with spike……. another spike is growing under it!!! Have you ever seen anything like that? Old spike will be 2 month in march 8th and it have some more growing to do, she is growing 2 new grow on other bulb. I have other cymbidiums and they in bloom in other room, this room got new light fixture, well 3 of them….. I never have seen anything like this in my 10 years of orchid experience.
Is my orchid will be OK? Is it my fault? Too much light? Too much fertilizer? Help.
Depending on the genetics behind your orchid, it is not uncommon, especially on the smaller sized varieties, to have multiple spikes on a bulb and even coming at a delayed time. Your plant is happy and thriving and you should enjoy this feature as you will have blooms for a longer period.
However, new growths also can initiate concurrently in this manner too. Wait and see how it develops. In any case, whatever conditions you are providing, it likes them.
