Hello
I got 2 NOID cyms this summer out of bloom. They have both bloomed before as I see evidence of old spikes. Assuming they are happy and healthy when can i expect spikes? They both have 2 of this years growth which isn't fully developed yet. I also wanted to know if to encourage root growth on them is similar to other orchids (bottom heat and seaweed fertilizer?) I am expecting some root loss due to the media change when I brought them home and repotted but hopefully they pull through quickly.
good to know we've had some strange weather this fall almost freezing temps for a week or so when i brought everyone in then the last week it has warmed up again so my phal whos thinking about a spike and my bigger cym are both back outside. *does flower dance*
I have two standard (large) Cyms that sit out all summer and get fairly good light. I leave them out till close to freezing. We had weird weather a few weeks ago also and I had to bring them in but they are back out again. I have the start of a spike on one but nothing else so far. Last year I had short spike nubs by mid to late summer which rather surprised me. I guess our nights had been cool enough. Mine seem to bloom reliably with that fall chill before I bring them in. I get blooms anywhere from Nov. to Feb.
