aborted root buds on Vandas
Default aborted root buds on Vandas

On two vandas, I notice that each has what looks like an aborted root. Each started out as one of three new roots, but while the other two continued to grow normally, one remained as tho it lacked the will or interest to progress.

Is there anything that causes this specifically that I can avoid, or is it just a fact of life?

They did not "abort". They will grow as long as you keep providing proper care. They're taking a break. Roots can sometimes grow in spurts.

Ah thanks. Both plants have put out a number of new roots, about 6 each, and the other 5 on each plant are progressing well.

Looks like good roots are coming. Looks like some of my vandas. Mist daily and no doubt they will lengthen.

Oh yes, they are doing very well, and growing steadily.
