I'd ask the vendor. It seems a bit shifty to me.

Often times, orchid vendors put small plants together to make one large plant. Since this plant was imported from Ecuagenera (that looks like their tag), it is easier and more lucrative to bundle together small individual plants than to set up each little division in its own pot or mount. But of course, this might not fit the new owner's objectives--since you separated each of these bulbs.
Are you going to grow them separately? They will probably survive but will take a while to get that fullness look. It sometimes seems that smaller plants grow better together.

I think it is not the vendor false.
The plant was an import so I think the vendor don't even know about this issue.

I'll grow them together in a small clay pot

You got it from a third party?
I don't know what you bought but the original pic looks like blooming size, not so for the individuals. If it were me, I'd be discussing this with the vendor you dealt with.
Ecuagenera normally does not sell mounted plants.

For me, all of the above, accurate, and so, brilliant.
Some of the NOID Phals which come my way, are the pretentiously presented ones with sometimes three individual plants, always the same hybrid in one pot. the riot of blooms is what they are going for and it seems that succeeds in drawing buyers.
I always pot them individually, BUT these are also plants mature enough to have produced their maiden bloom.

I have seen that a lot with neo growers too. I don't like it one bit.

It is a fairly common practice to put multiple plants in one pot/basket, in particular in Thailand (Vandaceous group). However, I have never seen mounted plants come in from abroad, so mounting was apparently done by the US seller.
If you want to exhibit the plant, it is frowned upon. And, if the plant is presented for a possible AOS award, they check the plant for this.
When I get multiple plants in one pot/basket, I always split them up.
