I have a spot for another one...looking for sugestions.
Talking I have a spot for another one...looking for sugestions.

We did some furniture rearranging and there is now a spot for another orchid. I haven't mentioned this to my husband yet because he already thinks I am nuts...I am trying to talk him into a vanda for outside. I am opening to suggestions for my new spot. It is by an east facing window that gets a lot of light...my catt is by the same window and is very happy. Something of a smaller, but not too small, size...4 or 5 inch pot size would be perfect. Thanks!

Vanda (Trudelia) alpina
Vanda (Ascocentrum) ampullacea
Vanda (Ascocentrum) aurantiaca (aurantiacum)
Vanda (Ascocentrum) christensoniana (christensonianum)
Vanda coerulescens
Vanda coerulea (gets bigger than the others I mention here, but it should still be manageable)
Vanda (Trudelia) cristata
Vanda (Ascocentrum) curvifolia (curvifolium)
Vanda (Neofinetia) falcata
Vanda (Ascocentrum) garayi
Vanda lilacina
Vanda (Ascocentrum) miniata (miniatum)
Vanda (Trudelia) pumila
Vanda (Ascocentrum) pusilla
Vanda roeblingiana
Vanda testacea
Vanda (Christensonia) vietnamica

If these aren't to your liking, then please post what you're looking for in a Vanda.

All are beautiful...how does one choose? Lol. I am actually wanting (and trying to convince my husband ) to put a vanda outside. I am looking for a species rec for inside, by an east facing window that gets a lot of direct sunlight.

Do you like brassovola digbiana? Its culture is like a cattleya, it has amazing flowers, and a terriffic scent!

Do you realize your question? You're asking a bunch of "orchid freaks" to suggest ONE plant for ONE spot! It's like asking someone to pick their favorite child! That's so cute! I LOVE it!

I actually thought about it for a moment and gave up.

BUT alas, I caved and decided that you'd probably like a Cattleya Potinera type orchid...which are small growing. OR maybe a bulbophyllum which are pretty cool! OR a paph (slipper orchid). Neofinetias are awesome little orchids too...The slipper needs less light though.

My husband thinks I'm crazy too....

Thanks for the ideas!
In regards to my husband, I think he is coming to the dark side We stumbled across a place with a ton of different orchids today. He was intrigued and wants to go back.

I really prefer orchids that can dry out, that is, be left behind for a two week vacation!

It is such a good spot and you have sooooo many to choose from.

You have to narrow down. What do you like? colors, one big flower or lots of small flowers, does fragrance matter to you?
