Help with ID and care.
Hello everyone, I got this beautiful orchid as a present from my aunt. However she removed the ID tag along with the prize tag and now I need to know what type of orchid it is so I can care for it. I also have a concern because two of the leaves have black spots on the underside and I wonder if is a virus, fungus or something else. Any info is much appreciated.
Sorry for the pictures, I'm having problems with the camera today. I will try to post better ones later.
It has two flowering spikes and it seems to me that has two more coming in but I'm not sure.

It's a cymbidium. I don't know what species or hybrid.
A little bit of leaf damage like that shouldn't be a concern, it could be mechanical damage or sunburn. But you would still want to keep an eye on it, just in case it's the result of a bacterial/fungal infection and/or a result of a pest infestation.

If you are afraid of it being bacterial/fungal there is a recipe on here by another member whose recipe I have personally used and it works GREAT!
This is from a kind member who sent it to me after I lost my notes for it.
Recipe:
10 drops of diswashing soap (any but not antibacterial),
1/2 teaspoon of liquid cinnamon (McCormick for example, baking section),
2 cups of tepid water.
Spray when you see issues, than after 1 week again, than after 2 weeks, soak pots for 5 minutes. Also you can use as prevention to spray every once a month!
I hope this helps one of my Catasetum's got fungal infection and I used this and sprayed all my plants with this and have seen my Teneborosum Catasetum bounce back. Oh it kills spiders on contact I found this out strictly by accident I swear!
Its a gorgeous flower, wish they grew well here.

I thought that remedy was for bugs only, mealies, scale and such. I have never heard of it being used for any diseases.

Spray the whole plant, leaves & flowers and all, or spray the medium? And when you say soak, are you saying soak in this solution?
I don't have any but from what I've seen I too believe to be Cymbidium. My understanding is that they like VERY bright light.

My saved message said that the liquid cinnamon helps battle fungal infections at the first sign.

Thats from my notes im on the 2nd week and have soaked the entire plant all the nooks and crannies of the plant(thats how I figured out it destroys spiders! Purely accidental).
Then I guess you soak the pot in the mix. I honestly dont know about that part because this is my first round with fungal issues. But it works my plants have jumped back to growing like weeds. Their color is back and no more new leaves dying off.
The bright light I truly dont know. I have a warm/hot growing cym. That loves bright light but that is about all I know.

I've heard that this can cause issues with the flowers, but I've never used it on a blooming plant. This worked wonders when I was getting rid of mealy bugs. I too have read that it's supposed to have anti-fungal/bacterial properties, but haven't tested that aspect of it...just glad I found this recipe years ago when I was looking for a fix.

Thank you all
I just finish making the mix and will spray all my plants just as a preventing measure.
My aunt also found the label that reads Cymb CamaroXCymb Devonianum "Cymb Seabiscuit"

My approach to individual plant problems is to treat the individual plant. Not do a blanket treatment unless needed. Someone here with my experience than myself may have other ideas.

I agree with you. I just meant that I made the mix and will use it from now on as a preventive treatment. I'm very careful with cinnamon when treating roots because it may dry them (learn that the hard way ).
I'm wondering if this would work on keeping ants off my plants. I have not had that problem before but for some reason I am seeing ants this year.
