Default Repotting video, hope it helps!

Hi,

We posted this thread previously, but somehow it got lost and we think it can be of great help when repotting is needed when root rot is suspected.

This repotting was made with a "rescue orchid"; we don't encourage repotting until you have 4 new roots that are about 1.5" longs. More so if you're changing medias completely. In this example, the orchid was planted in bark and moss and we transplanted into a form of S/H. We use a glass container without holes.

We translated this video about repotting a Phal into semi hydroponics for all our English speaking friends.

After some requests, we are adding posts in English in our orchid care Facebook page; you'll only see the English or Spanish posts, depending on your Facebook set language. We already uploaded the video here: https://www.facebook.com/cuidadosorquideas

We have 54,000+ fans in our Spanish version!! Bare with us, in the next weeks we'll be uploading all the info we already have in English. Follow us!!

[EDIT] Direct link to video here [/EDIT]

Regards and we hope this video helps!!

The original post is here

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ust-watch.html

I would actually be inclined to move one of these two posts to the 'Repotting' section. They are both in beginner just now. It could be useful in both, what do you think?

I've edited your post to add a direct link to the video. As time goes by it's likely to move further down the facebook page, so be harder for people to find from that.

Also some folks don't want facebook, so having a direct link will help them.

I'm going to make this post a sticky so it stays at the top of this forum section, instead of moving down as new posts come in.

Default Repotting Phal

I watched the posted video on repotting a Phal using a semi-hydroponic method, and still have questions. What about repotting into regular orchid medium? How is it different from the technique shown in the video? I just got a slotted pot for my Phal, with Phal Monterey Dark Medium form rePotme.
Question 2: When to repot? My orchid is blooming right now - first time, and it is so exciting! I see in the video that she is repotting while her plant is in bloom . Is that recommended, or do I wait until she is finished blooming?
Question 3: Fertilizer. She uses fertilizer mixed with water. Is this recommended if using medium? For future reference, when do I fertilize and what is the best fertilizer?
Thanks!
