Hi all!
I was given this phal amabilis (or amabilis hybrid, i don't know for sure ) about 2 weeks ago.
I'm watering about once a week (actually every 4-5 days) with a balanced fertilizer diluted at 0.5gr/L.
I thing that the orchid is in a bark+little soil mix (probably an orchid mix substrate that the nursery the phal was bought from is using).

I took some pics about the roots condition and i'd like to know what is your opinion...
I was wondering about repotting my orchid once the flowering is done, because i'm scared about possible root damage or rot.

You can find the pics in my public "Phal's root" album..

I think that the roots are fine, but i don't know what to do with the surface roots (do i have to cover them with bark?) and a couple of dried aerial roots (do i have to cut the dried ones? it seems that only the far end is dried...)

A couple of stems that were sprouting from the strikes dried out a couple of days after i got the orchid (luckly they were tiny stems), instead all the buds have bloomed( or are blooming).

Do i have to repot my plant?

Thank you for the attention

The to me look fine and so do the leaves. U don't have to do anything with the top roots. When watering use the skewer Method. Slowly and easily slide the skewer towards the middle of the medium making sure not to hit roots. Then pull it out and touch it to ur cheek if it has a damp feel to it don't water it if not waits a day and water it. It took me a long time to use this practice and now I use it all the time.

Your roots look good. Clear pots are wonderful.
Green roots-don't water.
Silver roots- time to water.

This is in good condition but you might want to water it a bit more. It is in a good medium bark mix and has lots of air flow around the roots so it can be watered more frequently. The new white roots won't turn color yet indicating moisture absorption so make sure you water it well. I would plop it in a small pot or cup and soak it for a min or two. New roots don't absorb water as readily as older roots. The spongy velamen hasn't matured and opened up enough yet. Leave this in this pot for the next year. In a year, repot it into the next pot size which should accommodate the root mass with an inch of room around the edge. Feed this at every watering with 1/4 strength fertilizer. Water with no fertilizer every 4th watering.
