I have 17 orchids now. I have mostly phals, a dracula, 4 oncidiums, a bulbo, one paph and this little dendrobium.
This one is grown in my office about five feet away from a grow light and just out of direct line of sight from an east facing window. They're supposedly a low light orchid, but this does get an hour or two of sun in the early mornings, right at sunrise. I just have the grow light to supplement natural sunlight for my orchids this winter... we'll see how well this works for me. I am trying to save money in my budget, in case I need to get a plant rack with t5s over it.
This little thing is in the teeniest pot I have ever seen. It's growing in new zealand spaghnum moss, which I water about every other day with bottled water only. In it's native environment, this orchid lives in high elevations and gets very, very pure water. So I don't water it with my tap water. I use a bottled water that has a TDS of less than 100. It gets no fertilizer. Just the minerals in the bottled water. When I first got it, I was terrified of it. I'm still afraid I'm going to kill it. It did drop two leaves on me, I think because those leaves were older and done, but it could have also been the change over from distilled to bottled water that caused it. I had to switch though, I wasn't seeing new growth at all until I switched to bottled water.
I also have a humidifier in the room I grow this in, to keep humidity at... well I have no idea what it's at, but my dracula lotax seems to like it, it's growing like crazy, so I'm assuming it's humid enough.
