cat attack

hi well I'm new to the orchid collectors and unfortunately i have a cat that throws fits and attacks any and all plants of mine recently he ate a big chunk off my orchids leaf is this going to harm either of them? I'm upset at my cat for doing this to my orchid. i take time to research its care and every thing i just don't want him to get sick. its a separate leaf from the two bottom main. i don't know if this will help but any and all information would be greatly appreciated thanks

I would clean the wond on the orchid with a qutip and H2O2 and put ground cinnamon on the wond.

Don't worry my cat does the same thing. Not as bad as yours but still try's to eat them.

Thank you also while i have you when i pinch the dispensed dying flowers a lot of liquid comes out. is that normal? or should i put cinnamon on it

Unfortunately, orchids are on the cat can eat approved list so don't worry about the cat. Moving forward though you will need to either train the cat to not chew on the orchids or move them where the cat can't reach them. I know it's easier said than done. I have 4 cats myself

Most of my orchids are kept in my kitchen where my cats can't get to them!

Things you could do:

He might want some greens: grow some cat grass.

If he's doing it during a 'mad half hour' give him other ways to let off steam: a big complex cat activity centre/tree to climb all over and hang off by his claw ends. Lots of toys. Games with fishing rod style toys. If you can arrange it high shelves/surfaces he can run and jump around on.

Try not to react when he attacks the plants: some cats do it to get attention! If your usual reaction is to shout etc you might find it actually works better to just walk out of the room.

I agree with RowanGreen. Most cats thrive on activity, unless they're the lazy kind that don't mind sleeping all day and night (I call them living fur balls). You definitely want to give them something to challenge their curiosity. There are toys out there that can entertain a cat nearly endlessly. One of them is the

I have two cats, they don't go after my plants often, but if they do, I scream, "boo"! It always works and it's really funny to watch them jump. Don't feel bad for my kitties though, I'm an equal opportunity "booer", I do it to my husband, kids and friends! Lol!

I don't know what you quite mean. I would put cinnamon on anywhere there is a fresh wound.

And liquid coming out is normal.

Ugh, must say this is one of the few times when I get to be happy that I have allergies to furry things (Cats especially). I think that the wilted flower stems should be okay, I have never put cinnamon on that portion before..hmmm interesting question though.
