Yep, you gotta have lots of patience when growing orchids.... And its important to resist the urge to use the KelpMax more often than once every two weeks.... and believe me, I know how difficult that can be! Lol but with that stuff, you should see roots w/in a couple months I'd say.... Which is actually quite fast, in orchid time

I like the idea of updating the family, with pics of the orchid (along with their relative). That's really sweet of you to do that. Also glad to hear that your client is doing well. And I hope they continue to get better.

Hi everyone, I have exciting news to report... I think. Take a look at this photo which I believe to be one of three roots growing.

Lady Soren, how can I make it focus on root growth? I am applying "kelp man" twice monthly and fertilizer once per week.

I don't think I'm a good person to ask.
But I think everyone else has covered it. Water it enough to keep it healthy, but also let it almost dry a tad to make it "reach" for the moisture as another has said. Make it want the water a little. Otherwise it will grow even more slow because it thinks "I have all I need here, why explore?" Lol
I believe others have said this as well- would probably do well to go very light on the fertilizer or less frequent. Don't want to over feed it. It only has like one "stomach" (root) to receive the food. All extra fert will over do it or it will just be run off.
I've heard it can stunt growth if you have too much.

The Kelpmax will help get root growth, also luke warm water rather than cold water when watering.

Other than that the spring... which you can't control. Sometimes it's a case of just keeping it alive until spring when it tends to want to grow more roots anyway.
