Question about oncidium spikes

I have a few oncidiums whose new growths are just mature enough to put out spikes. When I bought these plants (always on sale, once the flowers are past their best before date), they had 2 spikes per growth.

If a new growth is going to put out 2 spikes, do they both come out at the same time, or does one come before the other? Now that I have 1 spike in each new growth, can I do anything to encourage a second spike to come out of each growth?

I usually only get 1 spike per growth. Once in a while a second spike will come but usually after the first one is in full flower.

Thanks Bill. I wonder how the professional growers manage to coax 2 spikes to come out at about the same time.

In my experience, the ones that are able to get two or mire spikes per growth, the spikes appear within a shirt period of time from one another - usually within a couple weeks, tho I had one once it was nearly a month.
