Will My Phal Survive?
Hi guys! I'm a fourteen year old girl who loves orchids and this is my first time to grow a Phalaenopsis.
This orchid, I believe, is a 1 month old. When this plant is still a baby, I put it in a house or place which we do not own. Now, the problem is, The owner of that place will now occupy its own house and probably, I need to place it in my own home now.Yesterday, I put near the window so it can have its indirect light. I went to school and when I got home, I checked my plant and the leaves starts to become "soft." Originally, It's leaves are hard or we can say that it is healthy. I checked the roots and it is fine and it turns greener. Should I just let it there or should I move it again to it's original home or environment?
I hope you answer my question because I feel uneasy about it. Thank you. ^_^

Hello and welcome to the OrchidBoard.
It sounds like your phalaenopsis might struggle a bit with the change in environment. Maybe it's getting a bit warmer where you have it now than it did in the previous house? Or maybe it's getting a bit too much sun/light? Perhaps the humidity has changed and it's now in need of a humidity tray or something to increase the humidity around it a bit?
It could also just be thirsty! Is the growth medium moist and the roots green? If they turn silvery you can water.
Bottom line is that it could be a lot of different things and it's difficult to give you a clear answer on that, but... If the plant goes soft where it is standing at the moment, I would try to move it somewhere else or change the conditions. I would not wait and see what happens over time.
I find that phalaenopsis are pretty quick in their response in both good and bad ways. They are also survivors and have a strong will to live.

Thank you very much! You are correct. The condition of the place is quite sunny and warm. But you see, there are limited place where I could put my Phal. So, for my own Phal, I will just place my Phal secretly on its original place. Hihi.

Has this bloomed before? A one month old Phal would be extremely small.
Your plant may have gotten too much light, or too hot . What direction does the window face? Move it out of that window for now.
Also, check out this thread (the first few pages, at least) http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html

Since you're from the Philippines, the humidity is not an issue.
Heat might be an issue, but I'm not sure since there has not been any temperatures provided for the intended growing area.
If it is too bright, you can move it further away from the window. It can still be by the window, but not as close to it as previous.
After, 3 more posts, you may be able to post pics, and if you are able to provide photos, that'd be great.
I think your Phal has a good shot at living.
For now, soak the plant with the pot in water for a few hours, until the plant perks up again, then resume normal watering regimen, being careful not to over water.

Hi and welcome to The Orchid Board. It sounds to me like you might have given it too much light. Direct light will cause sunburn and first the leaves get soft and droop, then it get;s yellow or white and the leaves eventually fall off. But if the roots are in good shape, the plant will grow new leavses. but it will take time. Don't water it if it has gotten sunburned for a couple days. Because the roots have no leaves to sweat moisture, they can get fungus and mold because they are too wet. if you are around Manilla, water it once a week. I hope it recovers.

My Phal has only 2 leaves with a small one. No, my Phal isn't blooming yet. Thank you by the way.
