Default Reblooming epidendrum

I have this reed stemmed epidendrum who's flowers are almost spent. These pics were taken a week or two ago and each still had some unopened buds. I was told by the grower that if I cut the spike at a certain point, two spikes would grow horizontally from each pruned spike. I'm not sure exactly when or where to do that. Any advice?

Cut just below the dead part. You can skip cutting altogether. It is likely to initiate new buds whether or not you cut anything.

My Epi ellipticum keeps getting new buds without my doing anything at all to it. Occasionally, I do snip off clearly dead parts.

its got a long way to go before cutting, those blooms are going to keep coming for some time....I usually cut the spent stem down a few notches, and they send out keikis with more blooms...I have some that are about 4-5 feet tall....I really need to whack those back, lol....love the color of yours!
