Hey Matt, I wish you the best results from your new Pot Sir.
I feel good that I inspired you to purchase one. Repotme is the only place I believe you can get them in the US.
Very well done to you. I want pikkies you know so I can see your progress.
YOU have excellent Taste Sausage.

Are you sure you are English? You write like my BFF Vicki. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee but grew in Hendersonville, Tennessee--about as close to country as you can get! LOL! (I know--that is off topic.)

I've had an Orchitop pot for one of my Phals. I wanted to see if it was as good as advertised. I've had the pot since the middle of June. The last plant in it died due to my not figuring out I had an air circulation problem and the roots rotted.
Since then (repotted in the middle-ish of July), I have had the white Phal in there. She seems to like it so far, but I am definitely interested to see the long-term impact on her roots. This particular Phal started out with rough roots so it has to do some healing before actually growing, but here she is in her Orchitop pot:
Here is a closeup of her roots when I first repotted her:

Course I is English. Born and bred near Liverpool where the Beatles came from.
I did just spend 7 years in North Carolina, but I really don't think anything rubbed off on me at all.
Back in the UK to stay now. Oh how I miss the glorious Sunshine and beautiful Blue Skies. Did I tell you I was a Sun Goddess in my last life?
Nothing American about me except my longing to drive Topless. Hence the new car ordered for next month.
Back to topic, just so we don't get told off by the Bizzy Bodies, I have got at least three other Orchids with roots that I can see inside the poles of their pots. They are all just waiting to burst through.
With all this amazing root growth going on, I am soooo expectant of a good show of flowers next season. I am more than hopeful. '-'

Yay DweamGoil, very well done to you.
Have you got some clay in your mix?
I use Seramis Orchid Clay Balls. They are the magic ingredient that sucks up the water through the pot to keep the bark mix moist so the roots can hydrate.
It is really magical how it all works together. Have you got something in your mix too?

I went to the Orchitop site and was VERY curious about the Seramis bag. I looked it up online and it seems like it's hard to nearly impossible to get here in the US. Right now, I have my Phal in Better-Gro Phalaenopsis mix:
- Better-Gro® Phalaenopsis Mix, is a fertile mixture of Canadian chunk peat blended with western fir bark, hardwood charcoal and coarse perlite.
I also have a very modest bag of Orchiata at home, but it's so expensive to pot into that medium. I will continue to monitor how she does in the bark mix and revisit the Orchiata possibility if I see she's not improving in the next month or so. Currently, to aid in drainage, I use a 2" - 3" layer of styrofoam packing peanuts at the bottom of the pot and the media is not packed in tightly at all.

Hey Hun,
Send me your postal address in a Private Message and I'll send you enough clay balls (Chips) to re-pot your pot.
Seramis is only available in 2 locations in the UK too. I bought my last big bagful on Amazon.
It weighs nothing so it won't cost much to send you some.
Send me your address Matey and I'll post it tomorrow. It'll take a full 7 days to get to you.

Still vying for Freedom - With Gusto!!
Hi Folks,
Just popped in with a quick update - pictorial of course.
This the first two pics repeated and then today's pic.
These Roots really are growing so well. The whole plant is actually. I am waiting with baited breath for the amazing show of Flowers next spring expected now from this fantastic Orchid.
Can you also see how incredibly easily this can be re-potted if it needed to be? The whole plant, Roots and all just lift straight up. Nothing in their way to break or damage these precious roots.
Anyone in the UK wants a pot like this, you can go to:- Orchid Pots
Many thanks for taking a look.

Not my cup of tea! They look like they need to be next to my lucite table over my red shagadelic rug!
But.......you know what they say about opinions!
Happy growing if they float your boat

Hi there Nanook,
