These were overwatered phals in soaking wet sp. moss that I got cheaply from the store. The roots at the centre were all spongy and blackish.

I changed out the soaking wet moss...to dry moss.

I got them at early Apr.
A few of them have started putting out new root tips from the body and new leaflets.

So it took about 7 weeks. Almost 2 months. Is this to be expected? Gee, my patience was severely tested.

generally with orchids you do have to be quite patient. There was a guy at my LOS who had a Paph for 27 years before it bloomed for him. It sounds like your Phals are right on track.

I think two months is pretty good
Orchids can definitely be a lesson in patience.
