Default Experiment with gel2root

I found this gel2root at Menards in the seedling section of the garden department. I grabbed a couple packs. Each pack contains 2 gel containers, supposedly capable of rooting 3 cuttings each of whichever plant you wish to clone. When I got home it occured to me to try this on at least one of the rootless orchids ive been struggling with to get to root. Seeing as its just a $3 rescue phal, I didnt see any harm in trying this out. Im quite curious to see how it turns out. :3

I'm curious how it turns out as well..I do wonder how the existing roots will be able to breath though, & the new ones that grow... (off topic, but I wonder if this would work with roses?)

I wondered this as well. on the one I used it only had one root left and that one wasnt looking too good. Im wondering if it does work what do I do with the roots after. Will the orchid have to be in water since the new roots developed in the gel? Im not sure. As for roses, I dont see why it wouldnt work for them at least.

I did a little bit of research on this stuff after you posted this thread- It did not work on roses, also roots that had been grown in this stuff did not do well transitioning to another medium.

I just wanted to update on the orchid in gel2root. so far I see no changes. but its one remaining root seems to be looking better in the gel anyway.

It is labeled for "soft wood cuttings" so maybe they're decreased the concentration of hormones a bit. I hope it was enough.

The hormones in powders like Rootone are so highly concentrated that they are actually damaging to orchids.
