Yeah, I work in Fisherman's Wharf so I was at the one on Mason.
I just wish I could figure out where these things are sourced from, and if they come in any more sizes or types.
Heh if you have any more stacks sitting around I might be able to find a use for em!

Actually, they make really lousy S/H containers!
The extra holes and slots would allow a great deal more air penetration into the medium, increasing the evaporation rate to the point that it would overwhelm the wicking capability of the medium, essentially defeating the S/H concept and resulting in faster mineral buildup.

Almost all pots like this are injection moulded, and the mould usually has the manufacturer's name embedded into it and as a result so does the pot; if you buy one and un-pot the plant, you'll usually soon be able to see who made it; you may even be able to see this on the pot without taking the plant out.

Calwest Tropicals has 3" pots online. You can call them to see what other sizes are available but are not listed online (they have a huge paper catalog).

Also check ebay for orchid pots. You can often buy a small quantity, and maybe save a bit on shipping.

S/H means Semi-Hydroponics. You can read more about it on the section on the OB dedicated to S/H and here: First Rays
Not only does Ray has his own web page, he's also a regular and active commentator on the OB so any questions you might have can be asked here...or there.

Those orchids at TJ are from Matsui Nurseries. TJ gets a lot of their orchids from them. I purchase clear, slotted pots from Tindara orchid supplies. I have always been happy with them and they usually include a gift with my orders. They have much better prices and S&H prices than repotme. I think they are very expensive. The other place I buy supplies like Orchiata, air cone pots and recently semi hydro supplies is First Rays.
