I have a friend who has had a lot of luck buying through EBay; I guess it really depends on the vender.

True, I wish they posted pictures of their plants.

My concern is when I hear (read) descriptions on things like 'flower SHOULD look like this or be like that'. And then no picture. There are a lot on the site that are like that.

They are just being honest because with seedlings, they can only guess what the expected outcomes might be like.

I still want to see at least pictures of parents used, or if they have flowered any of the seedlings, post an example picture of that, although I know it will only be a rough "guide" as to what potential customers can expect.

I think that will be better than not having any pictures. I tend to get really frustrated when I don't see any pictures whatsoever!!!

I've gotten almost the entirety of my collection off of eBay, with a few from sellers on here and Dendroboard. I've had a couple duds, but those were risks I knew going in.

Default orchids off of ebay?

I have bought many plants (including orchids) on eBay. I have had problems with only one vendor-misidentified plant. Never resolved the issue, I do not buy from him anymore. Otherwise, just as everyone says, good picture, good description, good feedback. Buy a couple and see if you like the service, packing and the condition of the plant.
All IMHO
