What's chomping on my Phal leaves?
Hi everyone I have noticed that something is chomping on my Phals and African Violet's leaves (I think, that's what it looks like to me, anyway). Whatever they are, they're sucking the chlorophyll out. I have taken everyone outside and sprayed them down with neem oil, but I'd like more of an idea of what I'm dealing with and whether or not this treatment is sufficient.
Also, I've noticed one of my phals' leaves is starting to turn yellow at the edges, and I'm not sure why. Any idea why this happens? Is it strangely related to my chomper?
Thanks!

I have these tiny, adorable snails leaving very similar marks in my leaves and eating roots. I have been picking them off and putting them in a sealed container and feeding them lettuce because my teenagers think they are so cute. Unfortunately, what they do to my plants is not cute.
I am not sure if that is what you have but they are quite difficult to find. They occaisionally drown in my pitcher plant and when I treat some of my plants with granular rose systemic, I find quite a few dead ones.

My first thought was also those tiny tiny snails.
Try putting slices of potato on the medium overnight. Then in the morning check the underside of the potato, the snails are usually attracted to it and clinging to the underside.

Other than potatoes, is there some other way of eradicating them?

I haven't tried to purposely get rid of them yet beyond picking off the ones I find and putting them in the container. The granular Bayer rose systemic is yielding bodies so perhaps the liquid version run through the medium and sprayed on the plant might work?

but wait, before trying anything, you have to know what you are fighting with for sure.
Snails are one possibility but you do not know for sure, do you?
Try potato or carrot or cucumber slice at night. If you have snails in that pot, they, or at least one will come out to eat the veggie bait.
By the way, I thought I was looking at mealies in the second picture. maybe it's just the picture quality.

The leaves in the other phal in the second picture look like the first picture. The little tiny grain of white down in there is a tiny piece of perlite from my potting medium, lol. Sorry, it is bad quality. Our camera is packed (we're moving tomorrow) so the best I can do is the phone. =\ Which doesn't always deliver.
And no, I don't know exactly what it is.
