A few months back (January) at an orchid show I bought a beat up soph hybrid that slowly started growing.
It feels like growth slowed down ever since the summer kicked in and I am wondering if it is because of the heat. At this moment the temperatures are between 60-90.
From my researchthe Coccineea part is intermediate temperature grower at best, while the Mooreana can take the heat.
It is almost constantly lightly moist.
I could move it away from my W window, but the light intensity will suffer. Advice ?
Just give it regular Cattleya culture....its a hybrid. Find a watering regimen for both of you in accordance to your environment. I can understand your concerns since it is a small plant but it is hardy .... You can put it outdoors under a shady tree in the warm humid months and two weeks before frost comes put it back indoors on that window a foot away from the glass so not to burn it or freeze it....don't forget to feed it weekly weakly fertilizer....I have that mini-Catt and the flowers are a lovely vermillion.
