Many of my orchids have filled the large slatted baskets and are hanging on my back porch with lots of sprays of flowers on each big plant. They mostly came from those plastic bags of orchids at Lowe's. Wish I knew how to put a photo on Orchid Board, as my EPLC Jackie Bright has about 50 yellow flowers with lighter lip and maroon dots in the center... so reliable and so pretty.

When you are typing out a response to us, (via the "Quote" button) or filling out a new thread, you should see a bar at the top that has "Fonts, sizes, smilies" and you should see a paperclip (right next to the smiley) that will allow for attachments. If you are just using quick response, that's why you haven't been able to.

[QUOTE=jesscorine;573632]I also scored a $5 planter with a large blooming phal with a bud, a bromeliad and a prayer plant! I'm going back to that store!![COLOR="Silver"]

The self watering combo planters I got 8 months ago are all doing great. I got several & rearranged the plants between them.

That was a super deal you got just because that combination of plants will go on forever. The brom will make babies & the prayer plant may need to be trimmed back occasionally, but you'll get years of enjoyment from it.

The store where I got the planter, their clearance orchids were all outside (Mt Holly). I think the weather has been nice enough since, so I'm going back during daylight to check again! My local store (Delran) keeps their orchid clearance indoors.

Smart ones, keeping them inside. O__O! I almost yelled at our store general manager when I was there one night but I didn't. Not worth it. Cuz they don't care. But I really wanted to. Fiance was just like "Babe...it's ok <_< Shhh!" Lol!

I have a LC Volcano Queen from a Lowe's Baggie a year or two ago, and it now has 4 absolutely huge gorgeous flowers on it. The baggies are good buys and you can get some very nice plants for very little. It turned out to be pale lavender with a darker lip. They take so long to open they buds that I keep jumping up and down waiting for weeks.

I have seen the baggie Cattleyas, but I can't provide adequate light for them. Once we get a grown up house, I will go crazy and put orchids in every direction window I can find O_O! In a couple of weeks we're moving to an apartment that has all the windows oriented on the NW side of the building under oak trees T__T; I have to do a light set up, but most of my plants are phals and African violets. Too low for Catts.

Lowe's got a ton of good looking orchids in for Mother's Day. I "hope" some of them go on clearance in a couple of weeks

I wish I hadn't gone back to the ''other' Lowe's today. They have the saddest looking orchids. Almost ALL off the blooms were droopy. There were 3 phals still outside on the clearance rack. One was mostly black and yellow from being in the sun...so sad since it looked like it had really healthy plump roots! I have a lot of appreciation for my local store though. I found a dendro with a broken bloom spike and asked for a discount and got it ($7.50!)! I will keep going back because there are a few clearance plants that look promising with extra bloom stems growing off the spent bloom spike. They're still $12 though and I just don't want to risk it for that.

That would make me so sad. That's how I feel when I go to my store. I brought one home the other day that had a new leaf but it seems as if it's got some sunburn on one leaf. Its roots are really nice, though, so I don't feel bad. It was $7. I'm ok with that given that they're normally $25. I got one a couple weeks ago when I first went that is growing new bloom stems off a spike as well. =) I am hoping it continues to grow and I can find out what it looks like, lol.
