The mesh bagged ones weren't on sale at my store. The ones in the tiny pots are only $6, though. The noID Phals were on sale for $3-8 depending on the size.

I guess they don't have what you're talking about at my location.

Don't feel bad, all they have where I am is phals and those little mesh baggie cattleyas. Are those any good, those catts? They look wickedly small. There was one I was interested in trying out the other day, but it was so small and had some ick on its leaf I was like "Nope." They look like they'd take several years to get mature, too. (That said, I know nothing about Cattleyas and could be totally wrong. I would just like to try one)

Yeah they are some time away from blooming size. Sometimes you can find one in decent shape, but generally I find that they are not really cared for much by the people working there. They never get enough water.

The only good news is that they're generally cheap and it's not as big of a deal if they don't pan out.

I just got one last night. I know, it is insanely small but I figured for $6 it's worth trying. *fingers crossed*

Sorry, I just realized that I probably stated that a bit ambiguously. They're carrying two sizes of the mesh bagged orchids from Better- Gro. I bought two that were in the mesh bags - one was larger ( the Encyclia) and the other was one of the tiny ones (the Catt).

I am wondering if a different Lowes will have something better. We're moving soon, I might try that one. The one 5 minutes from my house generally sucks.

The ones that are really small are probably a few years from blooming. I think the larger ones are a year or so away. I have one I bought in October from Home Depot (a cattleya) and it's getting pretty big and has grown some more psudobulbs.

Nice! I hope mine does well.

My logic in buying the small Catt was at least it wasn't forced it to a ceramic pot with no drainage and allowed to marinate in a puddle for days. lol! *Maybe* it will be better off than the Phals? Of course justifying buying new orchids has never been a difficulty for me.

The phals will bloom first. It continues to amaze me how hearty those phal hybrids are.
