I just got my first Paph yesterday, and I'm wondering what ratio fertilizer works the best with them. It's currently in bloom. I have a balanced time release fertilizer that I use on my other orchids, but from what I understand that probably isn't the best kind to use for Paphs.
Doing some research I've seen conflicting information...one site suggested a balanced fertilizer, and another suggested a 30-10-10 mix and some of the 10-20-10 fertilizer while the plant is blooming.
It's not that simple. There is a lot more to fertilizers than just the first three numbers, and anything sold in mainstream stores is not good for orchids.
Go to firstrays.com and read through all the information there. It's quite an education.
I don't know the best concentration for Paphs. I did find some info online one time. I'll see if I can find it again.
Here, PAPHIOPEDILUM: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) they suggest "reasonably balanced 'orchid' fertilizer, that is low in urea, and use it at approximately 1/4 to1/2 the label strength every other watering"

I have used any houseplant fertilizers and orchid fertilizers with trace elements. I haven't noticed any difference really. been growing for many years.
Now I mostly use orchid fertilizers with trace elements mainly because I feel good about using it with all those little extra for the plants.
