Default DEFORMED spike

I am new to this but have managed to make most phals spike. I do have one which has a spike but the spike has taken an L shape. In other words grew up and then took a sharp left turn .. Is this normal >?

I would not worry too much. You very probably put the plant at a different angle after watering and it is normal for the spike to grow towards the strongest point of light.... make sure you keep it in the same position from now on so as not to get a zig zag spike..

Yes, most likely the plant's position was changed relative to the window or other light source. A spike will always grow toward the light.
