Well I went and tried to pick off the affected leaves and they all came off so I dusted with cinnamen on what was left. It didn't smell it is more like a crown rot from water getting in there and not drying, oh well nother lesson learnt...the hard way. I will keep an eye on it for the next while. I hope it does give me another pbulb, thankyou everyone.

You can also save it with isopropyl alcohol. I have saved new leaves on phals, a growth on my psychopsis (leaf is just missing a little piece but looks great) and new cattleya growths by treating with the alcohol for several days. It disinfects and dries. Just try not to get the alcohol on the roots. Good luck!

It should grow another bulb, I have a wildcat and a few years ago it had 3 growths in a row eaten off by something (I found an earwig in the pot after that). I thought it would have exhausted all viable eyes (the points it grows from) as it only had one bulb, I was about to consider chucking it when it decided to spike from the old bulb so decided to keep it until the flowers were gone... then just as the flowers were dropping I spotted a new growth. I was so surprised That growth matured and flowered last year, now it's working on another growth again.

So the moral is, don't give up, these things are tough

In my opinion, cut off this growth, dab with cinnamon, and let it dry out a bit. I've never had problems with water inside the leaves of oncidium alliance orchids. When this type rot happens, it has always been too muh water on the roots. I know. They like to be wet. That's what the books say but I think that wet and moist are two different things. Moist is when it will dry quicklyafter the roots have taken up all the water they need and dry off waiting for more. Wet is when the excess water does not dry off quickly enough and bacterial/fungal organisms start to take hold as in phal crowns staying wet at night especially when it is cool. Ill post a pic of one of my rescues that took one day to turn ugly with rooting leaves. I watered it too quickly instead of letting it dry off a bit. If you are going to water then make sure you have a good air current blowing across he plant and pot. Wter during the morning hours giving the pot time to dry off. Also just a personal opinon about coconut husk media.I don't like it especially with onc alliance orchids. It is too fibrous and harbors too many bd organisms inside the fibres. Just my opinion. I've seen time and time again where orchids grow well in it until it starts to break down and wham!!! Rot. Anyway, your pbulbs will produce new growth in about a month or two. Lots of light and warmth with a good breeze blowing across the plant and turn it weekly. The growth comes from the energy stored in the pbulbs alone. They grow for quite awhile using this stored energy. Starches and sugars. I've had bulbs that were shriveled quite a bit and still here comes a couple new shoots. Patience grasshopper. In time they will produce. Moist! Not wet. That's the key.
