Yes i watered it this morning, i was away for the weekend and when i returned all aereal roots were silver (they were previously green/silver). i think it was probably too soon anyway, as the stick was still a bit damp.
yes i was afraid it might have been infection, the small leave is fine though, no sign of spots.
there arent too many roots inside, they tend to be mostly outside, would you recommend repottinng into much smaller pot?

Yeah, I would use a smaller pot if there are not many roots inside it. The medium dries quicker if the roots are more tightly packed in the pot and that allows air to get in the gaps (rather than water in the gaps) and that helps the plant as Phalaenopsis like air around their roots (they grow clinging to trees with plenty of air flow).

great thank you! off to nursery i go tomorrow! question, are silver/greenish roots generally OK? or does it mean its a bit thirsty?

They are OK when silver, especially the aerial roots at the top. Once all/most of the roots are silver though it's time to water again. You can mist the aerial ones if you want but I don't usually bother.
