My First Re-Flowering!
Default My First Re-Flowering!

Well, very nearly...

I got this last summer after someone had put it on the pavement outside the front of their house: local shorthand for 'I don't want it, take it if you do'. At the time it had the remains of one shriveled flower, white with a red lip. It's the biggest phal I've got, with quite broad and paddle-like leaves that don't bend over like my others.

Since then it's had a spike knocked off the same node twice (the second down-pointing spikelet featured on the spike thread before I knocked it off!). After that I cut the spike down to the next node down and it's been working on this spike ever since. This morning I was thinking 'it might be days rather than weeks now', and I came home to this:

Nice save! I've had a few flower stalks that wound up looking like yours also.

Looks like a Phal worth saving! Now you have to be sure to share pics of it in full bloom, because I want to know what it looks like, lol!

I wouldn't be able to resist a free orchid either. Such a nice save! Congrats on your blossoms. Post more pics when it opens up fully.

The top petals seemed a bit stuck together, so it's taken a full 24 hours, but here it is! From the shriveled flower on it when I got it I was expecting plain white with a red lip, so it's a bit of a surprise!
