Default Withered looking leaves on Phal

Some of my Phal orchids have withered looking leaves. I've searched the books I have, and can't find anything that describes exactly what I'm seeing. On any other plant the first thing I would do is water the plant, but I know that's not the reason these leaves appear "wilted". I'm brand new to the Orchid Board, so I hope I'm posting this correctly. I don't know what tags or trackbacks are so I'm leaving those fields blank. Anyone?

Hi and welcome!
I would guess there is a problem with the plant being able to get water to the leaves. You could knock it out of the pot and take a look at the roots.
I'll assume you have a phalaenopis(phal). The roots should be firm. What is your plant potted in?
If the roots look healthy, it may just need more water or different conditions.

I agree with billc. I am betting you have very few roots. I would take them out and have a look. Put them in bark and hope for the best. I have gotten them that way and saved a couple of them. Not all. Good luck with yours.

Thank you for giving me this advice. I water my Orchids on Friday, and I will check the roots. I have not done much transplanting in the past. Perhaps this is part of my problem. I hate that "mossy" stuff that orchids come in sometimes, although I don't really know if it's superior to bark or not.
