Phals don't seem to mind being re-potted when in bloom as many other orchids would. I would still try to do it with as little disturbance as possible, but I will always repot a phal the minute I get it home to prevent root rot. At the very least if the spike is too hard to handle without risk of breaking it, I will pull a good 1/2 of the moss out and let it be in a much airier amount of moss until the bloom is finished.

I would like to make an additional comment regarding Sphag Moss.

This media is just fine for phalaenopsis plants! I have most of mine growing in New Zealand Sphagnum Moss.

The problem is how the person cares for them in the media. Most people overwater plants in Sphag and do better with plants potted in bark.

I agree. Mine end up in a mix of sphagnum and bark chunks. But I find that when they come from the store, most of them are too firmly packed and then there is that wet mass up under the crown, so it never dries out. A looser amount seems to work better for the phals I have.

Orchids magazine had an article and also recently some mail responses that explained why we will find them packed so tightly. It seems that these phals are not soaked when they are watered like you would with bark mix.
You only water when the top is dry and you only put enough water in to flood the top once and let it soak into the dry sphag below. That way, the media doesn't become too wet and that center core never really gets soggy.
The more tightly the sphag is packed, the less water it absorbs and the more quickly it will dry.

The nice part about sphag is it gives the roots the humidity they need in a home environment.
However, it is difficult to manage. I have some plants in the house that I will go almost two weeks without watering. They are doing great!
But my goodness, it's hard to hold back!

I have enjoyed the challenges of using different media for orchids and especially the challenge of self control when it comes to "fussing" over the plant

You plant looks very healthy. Phal roots that have not been exposed to sunlight will be white. That's perfectly normal. Aerial roots or roots in a clear pot utilize the light through Photosynthesis and develop a greener color. Repotting phals in bloom doesn't seem to bother them at all. But when I've repotted phals in bud I've had a problem with bud blast and they sometime fail to bloom. I would think that if you allow the sphagnum to get good and dry between waterings you could leave it in the moss for a while without problems. One thing I've done before is to take the whole rootball out and place the whole thing in a net pot so it gets more air. Then I repot when it's done blooming. If you're concerned though, there's certainly nothing wrong with repotting it now. Good luck.
