Is my orchid Well?
Default Is my orchid Well?

Got this orchid from a Ebay dealer a while back. I have never got a orchid in this bad shape before. If it is bad shape? It dont look like my others, on the leafs.

The biggest leaf (that is out of focus) had a staple in it, from the packing.

Just want comments on the look of the plant. Im very, very new to this kind of plants...

Lol. Sometimes I post the message first, then the pic(s) later too. There are times when the pics are difficult to upload.

Is any part of the stem buried in the potting medium? If it is, I recommend pulling it up a little.

I can't see any roots on there, and the one dangling out in the air doesn't look like it's alive, I could be wrong. Wet it and see if it turns green.

The leaves are a little bedraggled, but are otherwise fine.

I wouldn't be too happy about the packing if the plant had a staple go through one of the leaves.

It might be getting a bit too much light. I recommend growing it a little shadier, not too much shadier though.

It is a vandaeceous orchid. Not sure which species, but I'm thinking it could be a Tuberolabium sp., Staurochilus sp., or Trichoglottis sp., idk.

Its a Esmeralda Clarkei...

Infact, there is another root, that is not vissible on this pictures. And its green.

It looked like this before it got potted.
Iphone pic... Very bad picture, but the roots is showing.

.. And here is a better pic, from the "behind".

The leavs are darken in real life.. I used a flash, that might made it a bit brighter then it is,

I still think your Esmeralda clarkei is grown a little too bright.

Here's some general info on it.

IOSPE PHOTOS

If that potting mix has peat in it, I'd remove that.

Otherwise, my verdict is - it'll live.

1. The green pigmentation on the plant is so light that it's starting to show the carotenoid pigmentation (the yellow pigments).

2. There are anthocyanin pigments (the purple-red pigments) on the edges of the leaves.
