Default Brassia Looks Wonky

Another day, another question.

My second spike 'o' flowers looks much different than the first. These flowers seem a bit squished on the spike. And now the very first bud that grew is dying without even opening. And some of the flowers look--upside down? They all hung the other direction on the last spike. Is this normal?

Thanks!!

Have you moved it recently to a different loction? Rotated the pot a few times since it's been in spike? Conventional wisdom says once it's in spike leave it alone. If you move it or rotate the pot the flowers don't orient themselves correctly, and you end up with upside down flowers or ones facing a different direction than the rest. Spacing of the flowers on the spike has to do with amount of light I believe. Someone else jump in here and correct me if I'm wrong.

I am constantly struggling with my Brassias so I can't really help here...but I recently bloomed a Mtssa that had two blooms: the first had a lower petal (is that the right word?) that looked like a stalk of grass and it was upside down for the first two days
The second wasn't perfect but it didn't have the weird things happening to it that happened on the first one.

It's interesting to read what Terri said about moving the plant once it's in spike...I did that and now I have an answer about the upside down bit
Thanks, Terri
