RJ, that's probably how science found out about how orchids produce a scent - with a magnifying glass or microscope!

You're absolutely correct in that the liquid from the glands drip down onto the lip. The glands aren't usually located on the lips.

Most people are allergic to the pollen grains of flowers, not necessarily the scent of the flowers.

In orchids, the pollen grains do not blow away with the slightest breeze. The pollen grains are contained in the pollinia.
