Okay, so I'm going away for a long 4-day weekend, and I realize my new Vanda will not get it's daily watering (and sometimes second spraying if I'm home).
How serious is it to miss so many days? It'd be a bother to get a neighbor to come over daily for 1-2 plants (a hardcane dendrobium might also appreciate attention, but I think daily isn't so necessary.
I once watered an Ascocenda and placed its' roots in a zipper bag and closed it as much as I could with the rest of the plant sticking out. Left it for a week with no ill effects. I'm sure others have some tricks.
During summers here in Florida I rely on the vagaries of nature to water my orchids. They usually get watered (rained on) daily but will occasionally go 4 or 5 days without rain. At that point I step in and water them.
I agree with Tucker that it shouldn't be a problem. Vandas seem pretty drought tolerant.
I agree, for 4 days it should be fine. I've left my mounted minis aone for 4-6 days, and even they survive the lack of water during that time. If you give your vanda a good long soak before leaving and keep it out f the sun it should do just fine.
